Series: Best Practices in Engaging with Men and Boys in India – Experiences of Samajdar Jodidar Programme Enhancing Male Participation for Improving Gender Equality in Maharashtra
The Samajdar Jodidar (‘The Understanding Partner’) project was implemented by the Centre for Health and Social Justice (CHSJ) and local partners in Maharashtra from 2010-2015, to address gender inequality especially in terms of poor socio-economic indicators and poor health outcomes of women, and to address domestic violence. This included working with men to address women’s subordinate status in society and issues that men face with respect to their own sexual and reproductive health. Based on the work the following series of case studies have been developed:
- Samajdar Jodidar and Halo Medical Foundation ‘Crossing the Rubicon – No Going Back for These Male Feminists’
- Samajdar Jodidar and Yuvagram
- Samajdar Jodidar and Astitva ‘Men’s Groups in Sangola are Constructing New Norms’
